Sometimes customer service can fix a bad experience, but not always. For coats and blazers I usually go one size up if I want to layer sweaters under them. Many times I avoided a bad purchase just by reading a few careful comments. Metal can feel more premium, but acetate can be more comfortable for long wear.

If the first order goes well, I slowly try more products from the same place. It saves a lot of trial and error for everyone else. Sometimes I experiment with different materials just to see how they feel in daily life. In the end there is no perfect shop, but some stores are clearly more consistent. I think this is one of the few real advantages we have compared to shopping blindly. Jewelry is another category where quality can be very different from photos. In the past I have wasted money on items that looked good in photos but felt cheap in real life.
Just sharing my personal feedback.
